From Kickstarter to Full-Fledge Business
Right after graduating Iowa State University, I decided to launch a Kickstarter campaign centered around my Senior Thesis Puzzle Project, Codex Silenda. Little did I know the absolute rollercoaster ride I I had inadvertently signed myself up for.
With the sudden viral demand for my product, I found myself quickly running a small startup company out of my rental home's garage. After about a year, I moved back home from my first job out in Connecticut, to build a small workshop in my parent's cattle barn, putting all of my energy and focus into fulfilling this Kickstarter.
After about 3.5 years, I would go on to launch a 2nd Kickstarter, raising just over $900K. Despite the onset of Covid, I was able to move my business up to the Hudson, WI area, attempting ot yet again fulfill another Kickstarter Campaign of massive proportions. During this time, I also found myself working on highly custom props for TV Shows like NCIS New Orleans and National Treasure, Edge of History
Despite these successes, my business was not able to keep up with the state of worldly affairs, especially thanks to Covid, eventually having to close down in 2025.
And so I found myself seeking new opportunities elsewhere, eventually finding the wonderful world of Playgrounds.
